MMPA leads the way in quality milk production. The commitment to quality starts on the farm with MMPA’s variety of programs to help members excel. MMPA’s dedicated field staff provide services and programs that equip MMPA members with leading management and production information.
State Certified Member Representatives
MMPA employs a team of member representatives to support the needs of members on their dairy farms. Each member is assigned a representative and can work with specialists to manage specific issues such as mastitis management or energy efficiency.
Animal Care Program
MMPA partners with members to help them continue to provide excellent animal care. All members are enrolled in the National Dairy FARM (Farmers Assuring Responsible Management) program. The national program sets high standards when it comes to animal care and wholesome milk. FARM creates a culture of continuous improvement that inspires dairy farmers to do things even better every day. At MMPA, we partner with members to fulfill the FARM program requirements and provide additional information and training on specific animal care issues, such as calf care and milking.
Herd Health Program
MMPA partners with members to help address common herd health concerns. We can help evaluate parlor procedures, equipment design, cattle housing and udder health all to best serve our members needs to produce quality milk and provide superior animal care. We recognize the issues mastitis may cause for our members and our mastitis management specialists work directly to ensure the health of members’ herds.
Through partnerships with outside laboratories, members can request a variety of herd health tests.
The MMPA merchandise program sells chemicals, equipment and other supplies. Members can purchase merchandise at a discount through volume purchasing. In addition, profits made through the merchandise program are returned to those members who participate in the program. Non-members can also place an order through the merchandise program.
MMPA offers energy audits to members to properly assess the energy needs of their dairy farms. The audit will provide recommendations on how to improve energy efficiency, increase production and improve working conditions by implementing new technology. MMPA energy auditors are certified by the Michigan Farm Energy Audit Program at Michigan State University.
FDA Certified Laboratory
MMPA owns and operates its own laboratory, so MMPA members are assured of accurate, timely testing. The MMPA laboratory located at the Novi, Michigan office operates six days a week, performing a variety of lab tests on milk samples. All samples tested are maintained at 32-40° F at all times prior to testing. Members are notified immediately after lab tests are completed. Quality information is automatically updated as new tests are performed and members can receive notifications when new results are available through their preferred communication channel.
MMPA’s equipment consultation service enables members to be best prepared before making facility upgrades. MMPA can help plan any milking systems or facility improvements. We facilitate conversations with regulatory agencies to assist members comply with local regulations and laws. MMPA also has a bulk tank calibration service, which ensures the proper weight is recorded–and therefore the proper payment is received–for members’ milk.
