    MMPA Scholarships for MSU Students

    MMPA offers scholarships to members, children of members and employees of members at Michigan State University. Scholarships have been authorized by the MMPA Board of Directors to encourage post high school study for careers in dairy management.

    The scholarships are for MMPA members, children of members, or employees of members, who are students in the Dairy Management Program of the Institute of Agricultural Technology at Michigan State University or the Dairy Concentration Program in the Department of Animal Science. Preference given to those students enrolled in the 2-year Dairy Management Program.

    Six scholarships per year are available for MMPA members or children of members. Each semester on-campus recipients will receive $1,750 per semester providing the student meets the minimum scholarship requirements, completes the placement training on a dairy farm different from the home farm and continues to show promise for entry into the dairy farming business.

    Two scholarships per year are available for employees of MMPA members. Each semester on-campus recipients will receive $1,500 per semester providing the student meets the minimum scholarship requirements and continues to show promise for entry into the dairy farming business. Recipients can receive the scholarship for a maximum of three semesters.

    Basis for awards will be on applicant’s:

    • Merit as demonstrated by past scholastic achievement.
    • Participation and involvement in the family’s of his/her own dairy operation.
    • Involvement in related activities and organizations.
    • Two letters of recommendation.

    To be eligible for the MSU scholarships you must have been accepted into the Institute of Agricultural Technology Dairy Management Program or the Department of Animal Science Dairy Concentration Program. The scholarship application, as well as the two letters of recommendation, must be to the ANS Dairy Education Program Coordinator no later than October 1st to be considered for the upcoming school year. The scholarship money will be deposited and credited to the student’s MSU account.

    MMPA Scholarships for Purdue Students

    MMPA offers scholarships to members, children of members and employees of members at Purdue University. Scholarships have been authorized by the MMPA Board of Directors to encourage post high school study for careers in dairy management.

    One scholarships per year is available for a student at Purdue University who is a member or the child of a member of MMPA enrolled in an agriculture-related major. A student may receive the Michigan Milk Producers Association Scholarship one time only. Recipient will receive $1,000.00 divided evenly between the fall and spring semesters. Recipients can receive the scholarship for a maximum of one academic year.

    Selection criteria:

    • Is enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits each semester.
    • Maintains a satisfactory grade point average (2.0 or better).
    • Preference is given to students with a career interest in the dairy industry.

    MMPA Scholarships for Ohio State Students

    MMPA offers scholarships to members, children of members and employees of members at The Ohio State University. Scholarships have been authorized by the MMPA Board of Directors to encourage post high school study for careers in dairy management.

    One scholarships per year is available for a student at The Ohio State University who is a member or the child of a member of MMPA enrolled in an agriculture-related major. A student may receive the Michigan Milk Producers Association Scholarship one time only. Recipient will receive $1,000.00 divided evenly between the fall and spring semesters.     Michigan Dairy Memorial and Scholarship Foundation

    The Michigan Dairy Memorial and Scholarship Foundation was established in 1957 to collect, administer, and invest funds donated to recognize various groups and/or organizations,  honor members of the dairy and allied industries who have performed distinguished services for the dairy industry of Michigan and to provide scholarships for students studying fields related to dairy science. Thirteen scholarships are available for Michigan State University students. Learn More  »

    Michigan Dairy Ambassador and Leadership Program

    The Michigan Dairy Ambassador Program offers leadership development opportunities to future dairy professionals. All qualified applicants are invited to attend a day-long training on the second day of the annual Great Lakes Regional Dairy Conference (GLRDC). These attendees are considered GLRDC Dairy Ambassadors and become equipped with the messaging and training needed to effectively communicate with consumers, in-person and online. Two ambassador representatives (one high school student and one college student) are named annually and receive a scholarship following their year of service as a Dairy Ambassador. Learn More  »

    Michigan Youth Livestock Scholarship Fund

    Since 2000, the Michigan Youth Livestock Scholarship Fund has been awarding scholarships annually to outstanding youth who exhibit at the Michigan State Fair, Michigan livestock Expo and Michigan Dairy Expo. The fund is also responsible for supporting educational awards provided to youth livestock and dairy exhibitors each year.
